President's Message

Your Needs. Our Services. A Great Union. Those words are more than just a slogan at Union Bank. Rather, they represent the dedication at the core of our business. Union Bank is committed to offering you exceptional services that meet your unique banking needs, and the result is a great Union.

Our founders were committed to making their customers the number one priority when they opened the doors of Bannister Bank & Trust in 1965. They knew that personalized service coupled with great banking generates solid relationships.

The same philosophy is as true today as it was back then. That's why we adopted the "Union" name when Bannister Bank & Trust acquired the original Union Bank in 2001. We believe in forming great Unions with our customers and our communities. You're more than an account number at Union Bank. You are an individual who lives or does business in one of the communities we serve, and who has specific and unique banking needs. Our 11 branches are currently located in areas all over the Kansas City metropolitan area (click here for a listing of our Locations and Hours).

If you are seeking a solid, personal relationship with community bankers who want to know you and your needs, give us a try. Union Bank provides products and services comparable to other banks, but we offer greater flexibility and a personal touch that can't be found elsewhere. That's a big promise - and a promise we intend to keep. Union Bank's Service Promise: We treat you with respect. We listen. We can help.

Whether you choose to bank online or in person, Union Bank is here to serve you.

Are you ready to form a great Union with us?

Sincerely,
Jeffrey J. Jernigan
President & CEO

History

From a double-wide trailer to eleven branches and growing.

Union Bank's history is the story of how 14 entrepreneurial men from various business backgrounds came together to build a community bank based on unsurpassed customer service.

The current Union Bank had its beginning in 1965 as Bannister Bank – in a double-wide trailer prior to completion of the original bank building. Three of the bank’s founders remain on the Board of Directors today: George R. Raupp, Virgil L. Thorp and Don E. Williams. Raymond E. Glasnapp served as Chairman of the Board until his passing in February 2002; his wife, Erma Lee Glasnapp, joined the Board in March 2002.

The collective vision of the bank's founders for a community bank built on customer service - a philosophy that was not embraced by banks at the time - was the cornerstone of Union Bank and continues to be an integral part of the Bank's culture.

The Bank has grown substantially since its "trailer days," particularly since it acquired the original Union Bank in 2001. Today, there are 11 Union Bank branches throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.

We are honored to maintain relationships with many of our original customers, who put their faith in the Bank and its founders by their willingness to bank in a double-wide trailer! We owe all of our customers – and the vision of our founders – heartfelt gratitude.
